Halloween 2016… Play Ball!

This Halloween I decided to give homemade prosthetics and blood a try.

For the prothtetics I used:

  • 2/3 Karo Syrup
  • 1/3 Glycerin
  • 2/3 Unflavored Gelatin

For the blood I used:

  • 2 Tablespoons of Karo syrup
  • 28-30 drops of red food coloring (until you get a true red color)
  • 2-3 drops of blue food coloring to give it that true deep blood color.

Using a Microwave safe container mix the Karo syrup and glycerin then slowly add in the gelatin heating up the container in 10 second intervals. IF THE MIXTURE BOILS IT WILL NOT WORK! Once it is cool enough then you can put the substance on the skin with a makeup or medical spatula (the substance should look like a glue type texture) and begin to mold it accordingly.

For the following wound I used:

  • Elmers Glue
  • Tissue Paper (single ply)
  • Blow-dryer

Fist apply a thin layer of glue on the skin and then adding a layer of tissue. After hit it with the blow-dryer. Then the repeat the steps about 3 more times (feel free to add more if your going for something else). Apply some makeup, fill and splatter with blood & VIOLA.
